Week 4 in Lota!

Well hello everybody! Things are getting better and I know the Lord blesses me! I experienced my first earthquake the other day, which was a little scary. EEK. It's starting to warm up here a little bit, so that's good. Oh dad, I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday on the 26th!! I love you and I took funny picture with a note for you. I'm sure mom made a chocolate cake.

Anyway, the investigators are great, I got to experience my first intercambio (exchange) on friday the 27th. I loved it! It was fun being with someone else and seeing what they do. She is american also so she helped me study the language better. Today I got to go roller-blading with some guys from our ward. Two sisters from Arauco came too. Super divertido (fun)! Anyway things are better with my comp, I told her I don't like her borrowing my clothes. So everything is okay! I don't have money right now, but oh well. I'll figure something out.

I miss you all and I'm so thankful for my personal study every morning. I'm learning so much about myself and the Lord and His son. It makes me feel better about things and you guys help me so much. Thanks for the prayers and support! I pray for all of you too. I got to send pictures today! YAY! I love this gospel so much. I love it with all of my heart, and I'm so thankful that I can share it with others.

God bless!

Mel in Chile week 2!

Hi! I need to hurry and write down some thoughts, so sorry if everything is so scattered. I forgot to mention that it is freezing here and the toilet seats are always cold. Ice cold. Oh and everything is ran by gas, which is kind of odd for me. So I need to get used to it! Too bad I didn't pack too many long sleeve shirts... I had no idea it would be this freezing! I where tights everyday. I've already gotten sick here twice. My second day here I had a fever, and went to a birthday party. Not the best party. Anyway, and most recently I've had a cough and I lost my voice. It was hard to try to teach people, but everything is all well. My companion speaks some english so we can communicate for the most part. She's older than me so sometimes I feel like she's always telling me what to do. It's okay though, because I'm sure I need that right now. Sorry I can't send pictures this week because my memory card doesn't fit in this computer... Sad! I'm paying for the time I'm on right now, so I'm trying to be fast!! I had an interview with my president today, which went well. I can learn a lot from him, he's awesome! His spiritual soul is so nice to be around, I love him. I wish I could send my pictures... Well I love you all! Hope everything is going well. I'm still alive and kicking! YEE-HAW! Thanks for all that you do.

In Chile!

Hello friends and family!

This week has been pretty crazy. The people here are so sweet and accepting. Though the funny thing is here every one calls me barbie and they think I am so beautiful... Most of men stare at me and it can be a little creepy, but it's a good thing I have a companion! So my P-day is usually on monday, but there's a big holiday going on over here.

Oh so I can see why they say every girl gains weight here. The lunch here is soooo big and there's always bread. Hopefully I don't get fat! I don't ever take a second helping. Anyway, my companion is super sweet! She is from Buenos Aires Argentina which I think is crazy since Harm is there! Her name is Hermana Contreras.

We got to do a service project here which was really fun. I still don't understand what's going on sometimes, but all I can do is smile. The holiday is for Chile and there's a lot of dancing, it's called the cueca. I'm here in Lota and it's so beautiful, I'm right next to the beach. Be jealous!

The investigators are really great. I only have 45 minutes to write because some elders messed that up for us. Usually we have an hour, but not here. Sad! Well write me letters please! I love you all! I'm growing closer to the Lord every single day. I love it. It may be hard, but it's worth it. Adiós!

And We're Off!

Well these 6 weeks have been great! Now it's off to Chile. Finally officially starting this journey! Harmony is too! She's going to be so awesome. It's going to be a life changing experience. Today is going to be a very long day! I leave at 4:30 PM and the plane leaves at 9:30 PM. I won't arrive in Chile until the next day at 1:30 PM... Oh boy. My second airplane ride experience is going to be one I won't forget. I fly out with 15 elders and I'm the only sister. They keep telling me that I'm going to look so important because I'll be surrounded by these "men" in suits, and I'm just this white girl. I know they will protect me, well I hope so anyway. Also I get to be with my friend Chandler from high school, so I'm sure I'll get pictures. Well I love you all and I know I'm doing the right thing. I'm preaching His gospel, He guides me; this is His church. Wish me luck!

God be with you till we meet again,

Last P-day in the MTC

Hello again! This week has been going well. I got to go to the temple again for the last time here in Mexico. I had an easier time understanding a little more than the last time! I leave for Chile on the 9th. It's so crazy how fast these weeks have gone by. I'm so scared yet so excited to go serve in Chile. This week our teachers left us so I have some pictures with them. It was kind of sad to see them go, but I'm glad I got to meet them. They both told us inspirational stories.

Hermano Keller's story really jumped out to me. While on his mission he had a dream that he met this little girl (around 8 or 9 yrs.old) she was dressed all in white and reaching out towards him. He always remembered her face perfectly and knew he had to find her. He did everything he could to find her, and one day he did. I'm keeping the story short, but in the end she was baptized. I really hope I can be in tune with the spirit so I can experience miracles on my mission. I already know I have been blessed and I feel it every single day I'm out here. I may feel alone at times, but I'm not. The Lord is on my side. I hope all is well with everyone, I miss you all. Yo se que la iglesia es verdadero. Jesuchristo es mi Salvador. He is yours too, I know that with all of my heart.

I have some friends here that I just adore, so you will see pictures! Sorry, not sorry. I only can fit so many pictures on one email so I have to send several. A sister and I swapped dresses, your clothes start to get boring when you're out here, let me tell ya! We all have fun here. It's okay to have some fun while you're serving a mission. I think so anyway. I have some silly mirror pictures with one of my companions, Hermana Ostler. We were trying to do the classic middle school mirror picture. You'll also see Hermana Hartt again, one the pictures she really doesn't like but she has no say. Oh so the cafeteria now has peanut butter and nutella. I really like nutella, and that might be a bad thing... It's too good. I guess I can see why my mom never bought it for us.

I'm still a little sick and the doctor never really found out what happened. They kept messing up my test results, so he just had me take the parasite medicine anyways. It tastes absolutely terrible, but it can't be as bad as having a parasite. But I've been feeling good, I just get random stomach pains sometimes. I can't believe Harm and I fly out on the same day! Crazy! Hopefully we're not trying to call at the same time. That would be obnoxious. Anyway, I'll stop annoying you with my random whatever is going on right now in my life. I love you guys! xoxo

Love,
